During November 5-6, 2016, the Riverside Military Academy Raiders returned to Molena, GA for the 2016 National Raider Championships to once again compete as one of the best teams from across the U.S.!

Both Riverside’s A and B Teams trained hard every day for months in anticipation of this competition, and the preparation paid off as each team became Raider National Champions in their Divisions!

Riverside's A Team Raiders are now the 2014, 2015, and 2016 U.S. Army JROTC National Raider Champions (male division).

“Ever since our Raider Camp in August, the team goal has been ‘3peat’ at Nationals,” said Head Coach 1SG Andy Williams, “and the team put in a lot of hours in blood, sweat, and tears.”

Raider Nationals All-Service ChampionsOur B Team competed in the All-Service Raider Challenge Championships comprised of teams from all JROTC military branches. They brought home the 1st place win for the second year in a row! The inaugural year of the All-Service Championships was 2015.

Assistant Coach SgtMaj Jorge Sosa said, “Raider is the toughest sport in high school. While it’s not a contact sport, Raiders need lots of cardio, endurance, and stamina. It’s all about teamwork.”

In addition to serving as Battalion Commander of Riverside’s Corps of Cadets, Cadet LTC Ivan Pearson is team captain of both the A Team and B Team Raiders.

“I can honestly say that I’ve never been more proud in all my life. These young men have bled and cried alongside me and have become my brothers. The world has seen something that only comes once in a lifetime. We were all blessed to be a part of it, and we are all blessed to be ‘Forever Strong’ as Riverside Raiders,” stated Pearson.

“This was a year of challenges, hard work, and determination. I am so proud of our boys and what they have accomplished. This team was humble, hardworking, and dependable,” said Assistant Coach LTC Kenny Payne.
