Riverside Military Academy Testimonials

This school is for boys who will grow to into successful men, a good citizen, a good role model, a good family man - a complete person. Riverside has an excellent curriculum; everyone on the Riverside Academy Staff is a good role model for cadets, and they care about every student. My son's story, one of many in the more than 100-year history of RMA, may be evidence of this. He has attended Riverside for five years and loves his school! Riverside Military Academy is the best school in USA and one of the best in the world! Proud mom of a Gold Star Cadet.

It is almost impossible to believe the transformation that took place in our son and we credit nearly all of it to Riverside Military Academy! Our failing high school freshman is now a senior with college plans! The staff is outstanding, particularly the TAC (Teacher Adviser Counselor) Officers with whom the cadets interact the most. We could not be more thrilled to share the RMA success story as we have experienced first-hand the results that living in a structured, disciplined and regimented environment will yield! Riverside is an expensive choice, but it is the best investment one can make in one’s son. We could not be more pleased with our experience and could not be prouder Riverside parents. Honor, Tradition, Opportunity, Education, Discipline, Courage, Comradery, Leadership and Success are all at the core of the Riverside experience. I would highly recommend Riverside without a single reservation to any parent with a son who is “lost” in or frustrated by his current high school (or middle school) and not living up to his potential.

My son, like many other teenagers, was not thriving in our local public school system and was going down a bad path. I credit Riverside with not only saving his chances at a positive future but also with possibly saving his life by teaching him character traits like responsibility, accountability, perseverance and resilience. He respects and likes each of the teachers he has had there for the last 3 years and has excelled academically. RMA has given him academic ambition and the drive to set and achieve goals. I would recommend RMA to anyone whose son is not living up to his potential in his current school/environment.

My son struggled with the public school environment. He participated in JROTC at the public school and had expressed a desire to join the Military. As a single mom it was imperative that I find exceptional male role models to guide him through this crucial time in his life. Riverside has provided my son with ample opportunity to achieve any goal he sets. I sincerely appreciate the support of the Staff, Leadership, parents and other Cadets who have helped him build a road to his future. Accountability, Leadership, Strength and Character. Riverside is a Blessing to our boys.

Make no mistake, this is NOT a reform school. This school is a privilege! Riverside is developing boys to realize their full potential in life. My son's goal is to attend West Point which is why he chose this school on his own accord. At 13, I wasn't sure that him leaving home was something I could handle. We visited on parents weekend in the spring, mainly because I wanted to see what kind of parents send their boy to military boarding school. I was very impressed at the caliber of families I saw, and the fine young men who are their sons. Noah loves his teachers, and all the activities that keep him engaged throughout the day. There are many boarding schools in New England, where we live, but not one offers the balance of education, discipline, academics and service that Riverside does. Knowing that he is safe and well cared for, while developing the life skills that will help him his succeed, makes me so incredibly grateful that we found Riverside.

I remain incredibly impressed with and excited about all that you are doing for our son. He has matured so much this past year, and in ways that could not have happened anywhere else. We will be forever thankful for this experience.

My son attends RMA and in just a short time, has excelled in every way possible. The school offers such a positive environment for young men to become, not only great leaders but also considerate, caring men with great integrity and character. RMA truly cares about their students and wants them all to have a bright future. One of the best decisions we ever made!

We enrolled our son in the beginning of his junior year. The school(s) he previously attended did not challenge him or excite him and he was bored with the "day to day" dull routine of public/private schools. It was a very tough decision to even think about military school let alone sending him away to one, we did not know what to do, but we had to make a decision for his future, he is a bright and smart child and we knew that we had to send him away for his own good and (most importantly) let him see what he was capable of. Well, let’s cut to his senior year (this year), he is doing wonderful, he is a A/B student, he has a leadership position, his attitude towards school is great and the change in his overall outlook in life is great. This change can only be attributed to Riverside Military Academy, the school and all who work there are in it for two reasons: 1. To help the cadets get into college 2. To take boy and turn them into young respectable men. I highly recommend this school to anyone that is interested in the future of their son. From one proud parent.

My son attended RMA from 7th through 12th grade and our family is thrilled with the results! The TAC Officers, instructors and administration were amazingly interested in the success of our son. There were some hard lessons learned over the years but those lessons were some that most people either never learn or don't until much later in life. You and your son will get out of RMA what you put into RMA. If your son is open minded and willing to learn, he will go far! It takes a tough young man to attend RMA but it takes a tough parent as well. If your son gets accepted at RMA, allow them to do their job. Your son is in a safe place and learning lessons he will not get elsewhere. My son is a young man that is confident and polite. He looks you in the eye when you speak to him. He doesn't place value in social media and gaming because he wasn't exposed to it to the degree that his counterparts had been therefore he is productive and now attends a military college in SC. We are excited about his future because of his past at RMA.

Having attended Riverside Military Academy prepared me for life in a way few schools then (1970s), or not could possibly. I attended 4 years, and graduated in the top 10% of my Class in 1980, and went on to be commissioned into the US Army Reserve at age 20. I completed a Master's degree and retired from the service 7 years ago as a field grade officer. Without Riverside, the likelihood of either of these two accomplishments would be unlikely at best. My RMA experience was 31 years ago, and many of the fine instructors and leaders I knew are retired, or gone now. COL Jim Benson, (who is the school President now) since 2009, has led a rebirth of what I believe is the finest college prep schools in our nation. Students from Riverside are sculpted into fine young men or exemplary character and responsibility. And most go onto a university experience, [many] on partial or full academic or sports scholarships. Very few schools or universities can prepare your son for life the way RMA can.

Riverside Military Academy is the school that most parents wished were in their hometown for their son. Our local schools were failing and the classrooms were not conducive to learning. My son was falling further behind and I could not seem to reach him. So I considered Riverside for summer school. This was best decision we made for him. I wish I could broadcast it on every television or radio station and all social media. Riverside = Great environment, exceptional teachers, excellent curriculum. Structured, but allows the cadets the freedom to be creative and ingenious. Parents are always keep updated on school and students status. No bullying, hazing, or intimidation. I knew my son was smart and could be a honor student--Riverside brought it to manifestation. Each time I see him I am more amazed at how well he has developed into a productive, caring and respectful young man. If you are looking for a better education for your son, combined with a behavior change in his life and is willing to invest in your son's future--you should invest in Riverside. You will not be disappointed.

There is no dress rehearsal in life... you only have one shot with your children. As a father of 3 boys, it was becoming painfully clear that the public schools have no clue how to engage and educate boys. My eldest son is now a freshman at RMA. It has changed his life. He is confident and assertive, because he is challenged, and confidence comes as a result of real achievement and character...something Riverside excels in. His grades have improved dramatically, because he understands what it means to be held accountable, both by his instructors and by his peers. Riverside has leadership opportunities for your child like no other school. It is expensive, and our family has had to make extreme sacrifices to send our son there, but it is without a doubt the best investment we have ever made. I would say that if you love your son, and you understand there is a fundamental difference between educating boys and girls, then look into Riverside Military Academy. It is a GREAT school.

After a dreadful freshman year in public school my son, who is extremely bright but was lacking in organization and motivation, told us that he would get a GED. That was not acceptable to us, neither was hearing him blame others for his lack of achievement and follow-through. We'd saved for his college education since he was born, indications were we wouldn't need the saved college money as he would have trouble graduating from high school. We took the difficult step of enrolling him at RMA (after visiting and researching other military schools). He emerged from his first year there with an A average and an understanding that he CAN be a good student and that HE is responsible for the success he has achieved at RMA and will have in life. He's planning for college now (and being contacted by colleges interested in him!) and having opportunities that he couldn't have imagined while at his former school. RMA is big enough to offer a broad range of classes and extracurriculars. The staff is exceptional. He was excited to go back for his second year…we wish we had done RMA sooner (9th grade) rather than optimistically waiting for him to succeed at his former school.

Being a graduate of Riverside Military Academy, I can say that this school has prepared me for the realities of life in multiple aspects; such as leadership, responsibility, and integrity. While being away from home was difficult, I made many life time friends that I know I will hold onto for the rest of my life. If you're considering sending your son here, I would highly recommend it, while he may not feel so happy about it at first, he will definitely learn to love what the school does for him developmental wise. On top of making me prepared for the real world, it has a world class education that you just can't get at a normal private school or a public school. I would definitely say that this school has made me who I am today, and I'm proud of it.

Sending our boys to Riverside Military Academy is one of best decisions & investments that we ever made. Their nature and character has been transformed so much and the level of self-discipline. They now have total control of their academics, their future planning and are working towards their set goal without pressure from anyone. Although the RMA staff is tough on all boys, my boys consider that as stepping-stone for themselves and exceed the expectation. In summary, RMA can guarantees the following: leadership, accountability, independence, respect for protocol, self-discipline, high academic performance and team work. Given a chance again, I'll make the same decision over & over again.

Best decision ever. Now I know that my son is in good hands. He has a guiding light that will take him to great places. He is showing good judgment, leadership and great academic accomplishments. I strongly recommend the school.

Riverside Military Academy is an excellent school for success! It is the best school for boys in the USA, based on my 20 years of experiences around American public and private schools with two of my children. I received my education in Europe. At the time when I started to look at schools for my children, I had a hard time to find a good one, regardless if it were public or private. The same problems were evident. Everyone from the Riverside Academy staff is a good role model for cadets; they are caring about every student, regardless of racial and social or financial status. From the beginning you may think that tuition is too expensive, but each penny you will spend on an education for your son in RMA will return a hundredfold during your son s future life, based on what he learned there. Riverside Academy is not for a "sassy boy", but for a boy who will grow to be a successful man, a good citizen, a good role model and a good family man a complete person! Proud mother of Silver Star Cadet.

Riverside Military Academy is outstanding in every way and exactly where my son needs and wants to be. He is thriving in a place doing what no public school can offer. He is learning responsibility, accountability, love for his country, how to be a gentleman and in general how to be a respectful man. His days are full of academics and physical activity - there is no down time at RMA, but the school is and has been teaching boys how to be men for over 100 years and God willing will always continue to do so. What this school produces, for those that work hard and understand what they are receiving there, and strive to be the best, is the future of this great nation, the United States of America. God bless Riverside Military Academy!!

Riverside Military Academy is in my opinion one of the BEST Schools available today. They have an excellent curriculum and they teach tradition, elegance, good manners, excellence, via leading by example. What better way to teach children.

RMA is a school with exceptional facilities and staff who are committed to the success of students. Young men, whether looking for a better school or simply underperforming elsewhere, or needing a different peer group, can benefit from RMA's structure. As parents, our family likes the emphasis on character, personal responsibility and academics. The sports and music programs are also wonderful.

RMA has been a great choice for my son. He has found the school to be very positive. The teachers are outstanding and he is excelling academically and has also found all of the activities to be great. The leadership and pride instilled in these young men is tremendous.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Riverside. Our son is extremely gifted and lost all motivation in the public school setting. He was bored. In the short amount of time that he has been at Riverside, we have seen a huge turn around. He enjoys learning again. He LOVES his teachers, his grades are amazing. He stays incredibly busy with sports and activities. He is gaining amazing leadership skills that are setting him far and above his peers in the public school. We highly recommend Riverside. He is motivated, excited, and his self-confidence is through the roof. It has been the toughest yet best decision our family has ever made. Riverside truly knows what boys need to succeed. They push them to be the best they can be. They encourage them to step out of their comfort zone and try new things.

This is my son's fourth year at RMA. This is his sophomore year. He is a very bright young man and was previously at a school for gifted students. Even though I was very happy with his current school, my child lacked the drive to thrive in the self-starter environment. RMA gave him the added structure and discipline to get him on the right track. I would highly recommend RMA to anyone who feels their child needs just a little extra push to be all that he can be. I am a parent who is very involved in my son's life, both at home and at school and am glad to say that parental involvement is very much welcomed at RMA.

Best thing I ever did for my son!! Thriving academically and socially!! The structured environment and camaraderie among the boys is great!!

I have two boys at RMA, one who needed it, and one who wanted it after witnessing the successes of his older brother. They are now straight A students with increased self-esteem, and a positive outlook on college and their future. My son told me that it is so wonderful to be in a classroom where it is apparent that the teachers want to be there, and care about their students learning. From a parent perspective, I know more about what is going on with them living 4 plus hours away than I did when they were living under the same roof, and going to school two miles up the road. These educators know that not every child is wired the same, and can accept these differences while increasing rather than decreasing the standards and expectations. Not only are they being taught normal subject matter, but accountability, responsibility, and integrity. This school is developing boys into young men that are ready, willing, and most of all, able to step out in the world. I sleep better at night knowing that my boys are being prepared for whatever challenge may come their way. Financially, RMA has been a challenge for our family, but I know, without a doubt, it is worth every penny.

I had knowledge of Riverside Military Academy for some years, and I was at a point in which I had to choose a direction for my son, to decide over separating from him for the purpose of a successful future or to let him fall by the wayside. I decided to take a chance and call the Academy to talk with an admissions counselor. Both counselors assisted and advised me on each aspect and I was able to enroll my son in such a prestigious school as Riverside. I have seen so many changes in my son already and a complete turnaround in a very positive way. My son is talking about attending college every day. I am so glad I made the decision to enroll my son at Riverside and Riverside is an excellent choice for boys. The regiment, structure and discipline along with academics all contribute to making the cadets and the school a success. Thank you once again, Riverside...I’m glad to know of such an impressive school such as this one.
